Margaret Keys

5th May 2018

St Peter's Church

Describing Margaret Keys as 'a singer' is the equivalent of describing a Rolls Royce as merely 'a car'.

The Irish born soprano will be breaking from her tour with Russell Watson to sing at St. Peter's Church, Belper on 5th May as part of Belper Arts Festival.

"This is a very special singer and we are thrilled that Margaret Keys is appearing," said Festival organiser George Gunby. "Margaret has sung with Andrea Bocelli, Sir Rod Stewart, Aretha Franklin, Russell Watson and Alfie Boe. She has performed for the Pope in a concert that attracted a worldwide audience. She made her debut at New York's Carnegie Hall in 2016. It is a real coup for the Festival."

Born in Derry, Northern Ireland her passion for music took hold at a young age and Margaret decided that she wanted to pursue a career on stage. She has also participated in musical theatre productions including on Broadway. Her musical theatre repertoire includes, amongst others, Beauty and the Beast, Phantom of the Opera, My Fair Lady, Les Misérables, Mary Poppins and Carousel.

Classically trained, Margaret Keys has also performed on several TV broadcasts including BBC Songs of Praise, The BBC Proms and Sunday Night At The London Palladium. She was highly honoured to perform for HRH Prince of Wales Foundation Concert for Children and Arts, which was aired to an audience of 5 million on Classic FM and Sky Arts.

"Margaret Keys is one of those artists. She has a voice of pure warmth and beauty. I know the world will fall in love with Margaret."
